New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has been removed as the party’s deputy leader in the upper House of Parliament. According to PTI reports citing party sources, AAP has written to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat requesting the appointment of MP Ashok Mittal as the party’s new Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha, replacing Chadha.
The party has also informed the Secretariat that Chadha should not be allotted time to speak in Parliament.
This move comes amid widespread speculation that Chadha may join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rumours intensified after Chadha remained silent following the acquittal of AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in the alleged liquor policy scam by trial courts.
Chadha has reportedly ceased participation in party activities for several months and has on multiple occasions praised the Centre in Parliament and on social media over various issues.
