New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi minister Atishi said on Friday that her party is fully prepared to contest in all seats in Haryana. She expressed confidence that AAP will win the assembly polls in the state, PTI reported.
The Election Commission announced that polls for the 90-member Haryana Assembly will be held on October 1.
Talking to reporters after the poll dates announcement, Atishi said, "Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, our party's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal have addressed public meetings and they have seen huge crowds. Kejriwal is a son of Haryana, and thus, people have a connection with him." She asserted that they would contest all the seats with complete strength and win the polls.
When asked whether the party will enter into an alliance with Congress for the polls, she said, "The decision will be made after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal comes out of jail. We are holding door-to-door campaigns in all assembly constituencies, and the formation of booth committees is underway."
It was only last month that Atishi was granted bail in a defamation case by the Delhi High Court. The crew was filed against her by a BJP leader, Praveen Kumar. The case revolves around allegations made by Atishi that AAP leaders were approached by the BJP with cash offers to join their party.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tanya Bamniyal granted bail to Atishi on a bond of ₹20,000 and one surety of the same amount. Atishi appeared before the court following a summons issued in relation to the case.
The defamation suit was initiated by Delhi BJP leader Kapoor, who claimed that Atishi's accusations against the BJP were baseless. He stated that no evidence was provided by the AAP leaders to support their claims.
