Aamir Khan, Arijit Singh accused of late-night "illegal" entry at Bengal college

Kolkata: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and singer Arijit Singh have been accused of allegedly entering a government college in Murshidabad late at night, spending over an hour there, and filming footage without permission, a claim later deleted by the college principal.

The incident reportedly took place at Rani Dhanya Kumari College in Jiaganj, Murshidabad, a few days after Arijit announced his retirement from playback singing. Aamir had left Mumbai to visit Arijit’s ancestral home, sparking widespread discussion.

College principal Ajoy Adhikari posted two videos on his Facebook page, allegedly showing Arijit, Aamir, and about ten motorcycles entering the college after 1 a.m., playing badminton, and filming footage. The videos, 35 seconds and 26 seconds long, were reportedly captured by the college’s CCTV cameras. The visitors reportedly left around 2.25 a.m. after spending about an hour and 20 minutes on the campus.

Adhikari wrote in his post: “They certainly did not come here for social or personal work at this late hour without consulting the college, let alone getting permission. They came with commercial intentions and used the college without permission by influencing the local night guard. Just because they are famous people, does that mean they can do anything? Is a government educational institution such a trivial matter?”

Within hours, the post went viral but was later deleted. Adhikari wrote in English, “I was forced to delete the post.” He also told IANS that he had received pressure and requests from various quarters and would not pursue the matter further, adding that no decision had been made regarding filing a police complaint.

According to local sources, on the day of the incident, Arijit and Aamir were accompanied by some local leaders and allegedly pressured the temporary night guard over the phone to open the college gate.

There has been no official response from either Aamir Khan or Arijit Singh regarding the allegations.

The incident followed Aamir’s sudden visit to Arijit’s home, which sparked speculation. Some suggested Aamir had come to persuade Arijit to return from his brief “retirement,” while others claimed the actor needed Arijit’s voice for an upcoming film. It was later confirmed that the two were collaborating on a project.
