A student dies by suicide in Kota bringing to focus mental health

Kota: A student from West Bengal training in Rajasthan's Kota for one of the intensely pursued competitive exams committed suicide.

This is the 28 th suicide reported this year in the state’s major hub for eligibility exams for courses including in medical education, NDTV reported.

The student identified as Forid had been staying over the past year at Waqf Nagar area here training for NEET.

The student was rushed to hospital last evening after he was found hanging in his room.

As doctors declared him brought dead, other students said he was seen around last at 4 pm.

When he was not seen outside his room till 7 and not answered calls, they raised an alarm.

Police said they had informed the student’s family and added that no suicide note was found.

The series of suicides among students in Kota has triggered debates surrounding their mental health from stress.

The state government last year asked coaching centres to take measure to help students overcome stress.
