Bihar leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav has alleged that 64 per cent of the Ministers in Nitish Kumar's cabinet have criminal records and submitted a list of those to Assembly speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha. The submission follows a demand for evidence from the Speaker when the allegation was raised two days ago in the assembly.
Yadav referred to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), who revealed that 18 out of 31 ministers in Nitish Kumar's cabinet have criminal cases registered against them.
"Of these 18, 14 have serious criminal cases against them. I am going to submit to the Speaker the personal data related to these cases," Yadav said.
Speaker Sinha, however, refused to make the ADR a part of the house proceedings as the report was already in the public domain. "I thought you had some different information. This list even includes people who are accused of violating the model code of conduct," he said.
Before the assembly commenced, RJD MLAs also demanded that former CM Jan Nayak Karpuri Thakur be bestowed with the Bharat Ratna.
