NAGPUR: While trying to withdraw Rs 500 from an ATM, one man was surprised to find five Rs 500 currency notes from a cash dispenser in Nagpur district of Maharashtra.
While trying to withdraw Rs.500 by repeating the procedure, he got Rs.2500 again.
The incident took place on Wednesday at an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of a private bank in Khaparkheda town, 30 km from Nagpur city.
Hearing the news, that spread rapidly, a large crowd gathered outside the ATM centre to withdraw money, PTI reported.
An officer at the Khaparkheda police station said that they rushed to the spot after being informed about the incident, closed the ATM centre and informed the bank.
The extra cash was dispensed from the ATM due to a technical glitch.
The official said that this happened as Rs 500 denomination notes were mistakenly kept in the ATM that was meant to dispense Rs 100 denomination notes.
He added that no case has been filed in relation to this.
