New Delhi: India added 46,164 new coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours - a 22 per cent jump - while deaths from COVID-19 rose by 607. The country's overall case load now stands at 3.25 crore, while total fatalities are at 4.36 lakhs, according to the health ministry.
Besides, India's active cases also increased to 3,33,725 in 24 hours, comprising 1.03% of the total infection count.
The daily positivity rate remains less than 3 per cent for the last 31 days and is presently at 2.58 per cent.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid cases in Kerala jumped nearly 30 per cent over the past 24 hours to over 31,000 as the state government flagged an 'Onam spike'. The state recorded 215 deaths along with a test positivity rate of 19.03 per cent.
The state on Wednesday reported 31,445 fresh cases, pushing its total infection count to 38,83,429 and fatalities to 19,972.
As per Kerala's health bulletin, Ernakulam district reported the highest COVID cases of 4048, followed by Thrissur 3865, Kozhikode 3680, Malappuram 3502, Palakkad 2562, Kollam 2479, Kottayam 2050, Kannur 1930, Alappuzha 1874 and Thiruvananthapuram 1700, Idukki 1166, Pathanamthitta 1008, Wayanad 962 and Kasaragod 619.
During the last 24 hours, 1,65,273 samples were tested in the state. The state's death toll due to Covid-19 has climbed to 19,972.
Meanwhile, the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.63%. A total of 34,149 recovered from Covid-19.
And, a total of 60.38 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive, the health ministry said on Thursday.
