Sikar: A stampede at Khatu Shyamji Temple in Rajasthan's Sikar district on Monday morning killed at least three people and injured several others.
The stampede, according to India Today, started from the pressure of the thronging devotees as soon as the temple's entrance was opened at 5 am.
Over one lakh devotees from across Rajasthan were waiting outside the temple since Monday evening, to observe Ekadeshi on Monday morning.
Visiting Khatushyamji temple on the day of Ekadashi is considered auspicious.
Devotees began rushing towards the gates when they were opened, resulting into a stampede, according to the police.
Only one of three women died in the stamped has been identified so far, according to the police.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot offered condolences saying that demise of three women is unfortunate and wished speedy recovery for those injured in the melee.
