2 teenagers shoot dead doctor after seeking treatment at Delhi hospital

Delhi: Two teenagers who came in for treatment at a private hospital in Delhi's Jaitpur shot dead a 55-year-old doctor last night, NDTV reported. 

The staff at Nima Hospital said that one of the teenagers sought for a change of dressing for his injured toe.

Afterwards, they went to meet Dr Javed Akhtar, a practitioner of Unani Medicine, in his cabin for a prescription.

Minutes after they went into the cabin, nursing staff Gajala Parveen and Md Kamil heard a gunshot and rushed to the cabin where they found the doctor bleeding from his head.

The hospital staff told the police that suspects aged 16 or 17 years had been treated the night before at the hospital.

It is reported citing the police that it appeared to be a case of target killing. Their visit to the hospital the night before could be for recce.

The incident comes less than two months after the rape-murder of a 31-year-old doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Police have checked CCTV cameras inside the hospital to identify the suspects.
