10th-grade Dalit boy shot at for not greeting seniors

A 10th-grade Dalit boy was allegedly abused and shot by his friends in Agra. The boy was shot in the leg for not greeting his friends on his way to attend tuition classes. The victim is a student of a local public school and the two accused- both adults- study in class 12 in an inter-college. While one of the accused has been arrested, the other is on the run.

An FIR has been lodged under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and other relevant sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. How the accused managed to procure the gun and bullets is also being investigated

As per reports, the two accused abused and thrashed the boy and then shot him with a country-made pistol. They fled after shooting the boy who was rushed to the hospital by locals. The victim is out of danger and stable. The search for the other accused is ongoing, said Arvind Nerval, SHO at the New Agra police station.

The one who has already been arrested was booked last year also on charges of attempt to murder. Though initially remanded in judicial custody, he was later released on bail.
