Chandigarh: Amid incessant rainfall, a landslide on the outskirts of Shimla city left a woman dead and two others critically injured on Wednesday.
Shimla District Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC) said the incident occurred at Dhalli.
The injured have been admitted to a hospital here. Some vehicles were also hit by the debris.
Himachal Pradesh has been witnessing unrelenting rainfall since last night with several reported to be missing.
Malana and Manikaran in the Kullu district have been cut off from the rest of the state following a cloudburst and rescue efforts are underway. Six people are missing in the district, officials said.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state along with thunderstorms and lightning likely at isolated places over the plains, low and mid-hills of the state. Thunderstorms and lightning have been predicted over the high hills of the state.
In the landslide reported near the Dhalli tunnel in Shimla, a woman died while two others, including a man and a woman, were injured. The victims, said to be migrant workers, were sleeping in a roadside tent when the incident occurred, said sources. The injured has been taken to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Some vehicles were also hit by the debris.
Meanwhile, flash floods have been reported in Kullu and Kinnaur districts.
At least four persons besides five cattle have been washed away in Chojh village in Kullu. The rescue teams are stuck midway due to landslides.
Around 25-30 employees working at the Malana 2 power project, who were stuck in a building damaged due to a flash flood, have been evacuated.
Meanwhile, all water sources in Manikaran valley are witnessing very high water discharge.
The authorities at Larji, Pandoh, and Bilaspur are on high alert.
