Bhubaneswar: Indian women defeat German in hockey FIH Pro League here in Odisha, in a dramatic shoot-out, on Sunday. At the Kalinga Stadium, India had lost the first leg of the two-legged game but recovered and won the match in the second with 3-0, PTI reported.
On Saturday, India, the home side, lost the first leg to Germany in another shoot out for 1-2.
Like in the first leg, both teams ended up in a tie 1-1, and the match went for the shoot-out.
While Kumari Sangita, Tete Salima and Sonika netted for India, goalkeeper Savita exhibited a brilliant show guarding the goal post. None among Lilly Stoffelsma, Lena Frerichs and Sara Strauss could go pass Savita and India won.

During the playing time, despite being awarded three penalty corners, Indian women couldn't cash them, while Germany made one among the five they got into the target. Felicia Wiedermann turned a penalty corner into the goal and put a lead in the 29th minute. But Nisha equalised the game for India in the 40th minute.
After the match, world number 9, India got two points while Germany scored one. India reached the second spot in the FIH Pro League standings with 12 points from six games, while Argentina holds the first position with 12 points from four matches.
In the second quarter, the Germans made an intense fight with more possession and more circle entries. But debutant goalkeeper Kharibam Bichu Devi saved a penalty taken by Germany. India, however, dominated the final quarter of the match with 89 per cent possession with five circle entries.
Earlier, India defeated China but lost to Spain. India will battle England on April 2 and 3 in Kalinga Stadium.
