‘The Roshans’: New Netflix docu-series explores Hrithik Roshan’s iconic family

Mumbai: Netflix has announced its upcoming documentary series, 'The Roshans', which will delve into the storied legacy of Bollywood’s iconic Roshan family on Wednesday.

The series will feature candid interviews with industry peers, friends, and colleagues who will share their perspectives on the family's significant impact on the film industry. Directed by Shashi Ranjan, the documentary will begin with the patriarch, the legendary music composer Roshan, and will cover the careers of his sons, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and composer Rajesh Roshan, as well as Rakesh’s son, superstar Hrithik Roshan.

Netflix revealed the announcement on its Instagram handle, alongside the first poster, describing the series as “a profound journey through legacy and love with the family that brought music, magic, and unforgettable moments to Hindi cinema.” The poster features Hrithik Roshan alongside Rakesh and Rajesh Roshan.

The Roshan family expressed their excitement over the project, stating that they were thrilled to partner with Netflix and share untold stories that have shaped their lives. They noted that the platform’s global reach makes it an ideal platform to showcase their journey to audiences around the world.

Director Shashi Ranjan shared that working on the docu-series has been an incredibly rewarding experience. He expressed gratitude for being welcomed into the Roshan family's world and trusted with their legacy, emphasizing the privilege it was to bring their story of creativity, courage, and commitment to a wider audience. Ranjan added that having Netflix as the platform for sharing the stories of this legendary family was the perfect choice.

She described 'The Roshans' as a heartfelt and nostalgic journey that uncovers the untold story of three generations of the iconic film family, stating that Netflix was deeply honored to share their inspiring legacy with the world.

Recently, Prime Video launched 'Angry Young Men', a documentary series exploring the lives and careers of Bollywood screenwriters Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan. Before that, Netflix premiered 'Romantics', a tribute to Yash Raj Films and its deep influence on Hindi cinema.
