Sushmita Sen comes back after heart attack, turns showstopper at Lakme Fashion Week

Mumbai: After suffering a heart attack, Bollywood actress and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen is back at work. She walked the ramp as a showstopper for designer Anushree Reddy at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week.

The 47-year-old shared the news of a heart attack with fans on March 2 and said she underwent angioplasty and stent placement. She had 95% blockage in the main artery. After being discharged from the hospital, she said she cannot wait to bounce back. Three days ago, she posted a photo of stretching and working out. In the caption, she said that the cardiologist gave her a clean chit.

At Fashion Week, she was seen in a beautiful yellow embellished lehenga and walked with a bouquet of flowers. Fans were happy to see her healthy and many said that Sen is back with even more grace.

In an Instagram live, she said: "I just finished walking for the incredible Anushree Reddy as her showstopper at the Lakme Fashion Week. Thank you to all members of the media who were so kind and loving. I am a very blessed girl and I keep saying this. I am really feeling so happy because thanks to Anushree, who had the courage to ask me to come and walk and be her showstopper. I think most people would have just been like, now, it's not a good time. I tell you…women…It's beautiful when we stand by each other and bring out the best even in the most trying times."

Sushmita had said that she only survived the heart attack because of her active lifestyle and was lucky to be on the other side of the incident.

In another Instagram live, she said: "I know a lot of you will stop going to the gym and say, ‘it did not help her', but that is not good. It did help me. I survived a very big heart attack. It was massive with a 95% blockage in the main artery. I survived because I have kept an active lifestyle. I believe that for what it is worth, it was a phase and it passed. I am very lucky to be on the other side. It doesn't put fear in me, instead, I now have a feeling of promise to look forward to something."
