Reema Kagti's latest film, "Superboys of Malegaon," is poised to make its world premiere at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
TIFF, one of the globe’s most prestigious film festivals, will run from September 5 to September 15, with "Superboys of Malegaon" scheduled to premiere on September 13.
The film, inspired by real events and set in the small town of Malegaon in Maharashtra, features Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Shashank Arora in leading roles. Produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby, the film is penned by Varun Grover and will make its debut on Prime Video.
"Superboys of Malegaon" is described as a poignant yet uplifting narrative that delves into the realms of filmmaking and friendship. The story revolves around Nasir Shaikh, an amateur filmmaker from Malegaon, where the residents seek solace in Bollywood cinema to escape their daily hardships.
Driven by a passion to create a film for the people of Malegaon, by the people of Malegaon, Nasir rallies his group of friends to bring his dream to life, infusing the town with a renewed sense of energy and hope, according to the official synopsis.
The film is a Prime Video original, with executive producers Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar, Kagti, and Farhan Akhtar overseeing the project.
