Actress Shruti Haasan recently shared insights into her decision to embark on a sober lifestyle and her experience in maintaining it over the past eight years.
Known for her candour about her life, Shruti spoke candidly about her past relationship with alcohol, highlighting her choice to abstain and her current perspective.
During a conversation with Aminjaz, Shruti revealed that while she never dabbled in drugs, alcohol used to play a significant role in her life. She emphasised that it has been eight years since she chose to give up drinking. "I’ve been sober for eight years now. So, it’s hard to tolerate people in party situations when you’re not drinking,” she expressed.
Shruti articulated her contentment with her choice, stating, "I have zero regrets, zero hangovers, and it’s just been the best to be sober for me." She acknowledged the possibility that sobriety might be a temporary phase or a lifelong preference, asserting that both paths are acceptable.
Addressing her past relationship with alcohol, Shruti admitted, "I was never into drugs, but alcohol was a big thing in my life. It just didn’t serve me at all anymore, in any positive way. I was [always] hungover, and I always wanted to drink with my friends. So, I felt like it was more in control of me."
The actress also discussed distancing herself from peers who encouraged constant partying, recognising this as an integral part of her journey to sobriety. "This, too, is part of being sober," she added, reflecting on the changes in her social circle.
In terms of her professional engagements, Shruti recently appeared in the film "Veera Simha Reddy" alongside prominent actors. Her upcoming projects include "Salaar Part 1" with Prashant Neel, featuring stars like Prabhas, Jagapathi Babu, Sriya Reddy, and Easwari Rao, set to release in multiple languages.
Moreover, Shruti will be seen sharing screen space with Adivi Sesh in an untitled pan-India project, marking their first collaboration. The film's title is yet to be announced.
