Sharmila Tagore recalls horrible comments wishing Kareena Zika after pregnancy

Mumbai: Speaking about social media bullying, Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore recalled how people said horrible things about her daughter-in-law Kareena Kapoor after giving birth to Taimur.

She said someone said that it would have been better if Kareena had Zika and Taimur was never born. Zika is a disease caused by a virus of the same name. When Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor had their first child in 2016, many criticised them for naming the boy Taimur. Sharmila said people can be intrusive and you cannot please everyone.

She wondered how anyone can wish such harm on a baby.

"When a person is in the public eye, people can be intrusive. Can you really please everybody? So why even try? Because if you go according to other people’s prescriptions then your own focus, your own desires get lost and you can’t really win so you lose anyway so why even go that way? You might as well please yourself," reported Mojo Story.

When asked how she felt about the bullying, she said: "Anger is not the emotion here. You just again observe and take note of it. Actually, I don't read, I am not on social media. But I read one post which said, ‘It would have been better if Kareena had Zika and Taimur was never born’. I said how can somebody actually think like that? How is it possible for somebody to even wish a one-day-old baby so much harm? Where does it come from? I don’t feel afraid myself but I just wonder, what is this world? And who are these people? Or are they just repeating what is being said? Are they real?"

In a 2017 interview, Saif Ali Khan admitted to thinking about changing Taimur's name and even drafted a PR letter but found it to be so pathetic that the idea was cancelled.
