Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan's latest film, Jawan, continues its remarkable performance at the box office, crossing the Rs 400 crore mark on the ninth day of its release.
This achievement sets a new record for the fastest Hindi film to reach this milestone, previously held by Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan.
Released in theaters on September 11, Jawan earned Rs 21 crore on its second Friday, bringing its total collection to Rs 410.88 crore, with an extended week 1 collection of Rs 389.88 crore. The film's Hindi version contributed Rs 347.98 crore to this total, while the Tamil and Telugu versions added Rs 42 crore.
To celebrate the film's super success, the Jawan team held a press meet in Mumbai, attended by superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Vijay Sethupathi, director Atlee, Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, Ridhi Dogra, and other stars from the movie. Videos and images from the event quickly went viral on social media.
Shah Rukh Khan, in his navy blue suit and distinctive braided hairdo, appeared dapper at the event. Deepika Padukone charmed attendees with her grace, dressed in a white saree with black borders and a halter neck blouse.
Speaking at the event, Shah Rukh Khan shared his perspective on what Jawan signifies.
He said, "The essence of the film will come forward as we go along. But I want to tell you what 'Jawan' means to all of us. Listen to it carefully. Genuinely, I feel this – 'Jawan' is a feeling that every Indian has. I think 'Jawan' is an emotion, 'Jawan' is an Indian soldier, 'Jawan' is an Indian mother, 'Jawan' is an Indian girl, 'Jawan' is an Indian vigilante, and you have to understand 'Jawan' is many times weak as he is one of us, and many times he is ready to fight. 'Jawan' is many times wrong, but 'Jawan' many, many times is also right."
Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone also delivered a performance of the song "Chaleya" from "Jawan." Nayanthara, the co-star in the song and the lead heroine, did not attend the event.
Jawan received rave reviews from both critics and fans, with film critic Saibal Chatterjee giving it 3.5 out of 5 stars in his review for NDTV.
He praised Shah Rukh Khan's ability to portray an action hero with a human touch, stating, "Who is better equipped to do all this than SRK, who, even when he plays a larger-than-life action hero on a mission to take down a powerful industrialist who has wronged him and his nation in more ways than one, can stay rooted in the real world and animate the canvas with humanity even as he projects an invincible, superhero-like persona?"
