Hyderabad: Cyberabad police have intensified their investigation into the death of Kannada actress Shobitha Shivanna, who was found dead at her residence in Hyderabad on Sunday.
The 29-year-old actress was discovered hanging in the bedroom of her Kondapur home by her husband, Sudheer Reddy, who broke open the door after receiving no response to repeated knocks.
Following an autopsy at the Osmania General Hospital, Shobitha’s body was handed over to her family and later transported to Bengaluru, where her last rites are expected to be performed on Tuesday.
Originally from Sakleshpur in Karnataka’s Hassan district, Shobitha had been residing in Hyderabad with her husband, a software engineer, for the past two years.
Preliminary investigation revealed a purported suicide note that read, “Everything perfect – if you want to commit suicide, you can do it.” However, the exact reasons behind her alleged suicide remain unclear.
Police have registered a case and are investigating all angles, including the possibility of psychological distress. Statements are being recorded from her family, friends, and neighbors to uncover the circumstances surrounding her death.
Shobitha’s father-in-law, Bucchi Reddy, stated that the couple had a happy married life with no apparent issues. He emphasized that the family treated Shobitha as their daughter.
Shobitha was part of Kannada serials such as 'Brahmagantu', 'Ninidale', and 'Mangala Gowri', as well as the movie 'ATM: Attempt to Murder'. She had stopped acting after her marriage. Police found that Sudheer Reddy had sent the marriage proposal after coming across her profile on a matrimonial site.
The investigation continues as police work to determine the factors that led to her tragic death.
