Tripti Dimri in Qala

Netflix India releases busy calendar featuring Indian stars

Netflix has released a series of trailers and teasers of upcoming projects. The titles are clearly meant for Indian audiences ranging from the docufilm on Nayanthara to the Dulquer Salmaan starrer set in the 1990s.

The teaser of Huma Qureshi's movie 'Monica, O My Darling' seems to embody the spirit of the retro-song-inspired title. The actress was seen dancing to the 80s-inspired song wearing a red dress that is similar to the ones repeatedly worn by Bollywood item dancer Helen.

The cabaret number Ek Zindagi is being described as a foot-thumping retro number that will have everyone ready to shake a leg. "We wanted to give fans a sneak peek into the film with this cabaret number as a prelude of what is to come." The neo-noir film stars Rajkummar Rao, Sikander Kher, Radhika Apte, Bagavathi Perumal, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, Sukant Goel, and Zayn Marie Khan.

Netflix also released a teaser introducing an excited debut of Babil Khan, Irrfan Khan's son. He was seen in the Qala teaser with Bulbul-fame Tripti Dimri. Both actors were seen singing in a setting resembling the 1930s and 1940s. Qala is the story of a young eponymous playback singer and her tragic past catching up with her. The musical is produced by Anushka Sharma.

Rajkummar Rao and Dulquer Salmaan will be seen in the 90s style film Guns & Gulaabs. The 44-second teaser starts with a cassette player and music of the decade. The film is about misfits and their innocence in a world of crime. The short video hints at a crime thriller laced with humour.

Filmmaker Abhishek Chaubey is ready with a thriller series called Soup starring Manoj Bajpayee and Konkona Sen Sharma. In the teaser, they were seen cooking up a scheme to kill someone and be together. Both actors are known for choosing unique roles and delivering them with unmatched nuance.

The teaser for Gautham Menon's much-anticipated docuseries on Nayanthara was also released. Nayanthara - Beyond The Fairytale is about the formative years of the Lady Superstar's career. Her childhood memories also make an appearance.

Vignesh Shivan was seen describing his wife as a wonderful human being. And Nayanthara says: "When it all started, I had no idea on how it would be. I was not a filmy kid. I am just a normal girl, who wants to give her 100% in whatever she does."
