Malayalam cinema legends Mohanlal and Mammootty have shared a close friendship for decades, and their bond continues to remain strong.
Recently, Mohanlal performed a special pooja at Kerala’s Sabarimala Temple not just for himself and his family but also for Mammootty, showcasing his deep respect and affection for his longtime friend.
In an interview with NDTV, Mohanlal spoke about his visit to Sabarimala and his thoughtful gesture. He explained, "It is a ritual there to give a person’s name and star sign for a pooja. I included my mother and wife, and then I thought I would do it for him (Mammootty) as well."
The two stars remain in close touch, with Mohanlal revealing that they meet every week and speak over the phone every 2-3 days.
Mohanlal and Mammootty, who have worked together in over 50 films, are set to reunite for an upcoming project, tentatively titled MMMN. The film, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, is expected to be a massive venture.
Providing an update on the film’s progress, Mohanlal hinted at a potential release in September or October. He shared, "We are working on a film. It is yet to be completed. We had to shoot in Visakhapatnam, and Mammootty had to film in the UK. It is a big project, and we should finish it by May or June."
MMMN also marks the return of Nayanthara to Malayalam cinema after two years. The ensemble cast includes Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, Rajiv Menon, Renji Panicker, Revathi, Shaheen Siddique, Darshana Rajendran, Zarin Shihab, Sanal Aman, and Danish Husain.
The film will be shot over 150 days across multiple locations, including Delhi, Kochi, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Azerbaijan, Thailand, Abu Dhabi, Sri Lanka, and London.
Apart from MMMN, Mohanlal is set to appear in Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2: Empuraan, along with other projects like Thudarum, Kannappa, and Hridayapoorvam. Meanwhile, Mammootty is gearing up for the releases of Bazooka and Megastar 428.
