Lilly Singh dons pro-farmers mask at Grammys

Renowned YouTuber and content creator Lilly Singh expressed her support for the ongoing farmers' protests in India by wearing a mask of support at the Grammy Awards. She, who had already voiced her stance on the issue, wore a face mask that read "I stand with farmers" in the ceremony and later uploaded a picture on Instagram.

"I know red carpet/award show pictures always get the most coverage, so here you go media. Feel free to run with it. #IStandWithFarmers #GRAMMYs," she wrote on Instagram and Twitter.

Last December, Lilly urged her massive fan base to follow the farmers' protests, claiming it the "largest human protest in history in India" through a TikTok video.

"I've been talking a lot about farmers' protest happening in India. Long story short, farmers are protesting new agriculture bills that affect their livelihood, and they have been peacefully protesting but have met with not so peaceful responses," she had said, pledging her support for the cause.

Lilly Singh's Instagram post garnered serious attention, including comments from celebrities such as Amanda Cerny and WWE wrestler Sunil Singh. She has over nine million followers on Instagram and over 14 million subscribers on YouTube.

Her new post on Instagram appears after controversies broke out when pop star Rihanna, among other foreign celebrities, came forth supporting the farmers' protests last month. Climate activist Greta Thunberg has faced allegations of creating a malicious 'toolkit' for the protests out of vested interests. Later an activist was booked in India for sharing it. The growing global support for farmers forced the Indian government to release a warning against "sensationalist social media hashtags and comments."
