Mumbai: Bollywood star Ajay Devgn has defended his featuring in a tobacco brand advertisement, saying it was a personal choice, IANS reported.
The development occurred after his colleague in the industry, Akshay Kumar, apologized for acting the brand's advertisement promoting it.
According to media reports, while Ajay was attending the promotion of his upcoming release, 'Runway 34', he replied to a question regarding the ad that acting in the brand's promotion is a personal choice. He said that people often take up something after fully being aware of its repercussions at large. He was only promoting 'elaichi' and not a tobacco product, and if such products create an unnecessary stir, it is their sales that should be stopped first, not advertisements, he added.
Ajay has been featuring himself in the ad for so long that he has become synonymous with its tagline.
