Chennai: Actor Dulquer Salmaan has quashed speculation about the OTT release of his blockbuster superhero production Lokah, saying the film will continue its theatrical run for now.
Taking to X on Sunday, the actor-producer wrote, “Lokah isn't coming to OTT anytime soon. Ignore the fake news and stay tuned for official announcements! #Lokah #WhatstheHurry.”
The film, produced under his banner Wayfarer Films, has been a massive box office success, crossing Rs 275 crore and still running strong in theatres. Hailed as Malayalam cinema’s first woman superhero film, Lokah has struck a chord with audiences across regions.
The overwhelming response has left its makers and cast delighted. Actress Kalyani Priyadarshan, who plays a key role, had earlier shared a heartfelt note after the film crossed the Rs 200 crore mark, thanking audiences for their support. “Yesterday, our film reached a number that was only possible because of you, the audience. I’m beyond speechless, and truly beyond grateful for the love being showered on this film. In our industry, content has always been king, the biggest star of all - and once again, you’ve proved that to us. Thank you for giving us the chance to show that stories with vision will always find their place with you,” she wrote, while praising director Dominic Arun for his vision and the cast and crew for their collective effort.
Written and directed by Dominic Arun, Lokah features cinematography by Nimish Ravi, editing by Chaman Chakko and music by Jakes Bejoy. International stunt choreographer Yannick Ben handled the action sequences, while Santhy Balachandran contributed to the screenplay and dramaturgy. Jithu Sebastian served as art director.
