Hyderabad: In a significant relief for actor Allu Arjun, a court here has relaxed the conditions of his bail in connection with the stampede case related to the premiere of his film 'Pushpa 2'. The court has exempted him from appearing before the investigating officer every Sunday, as previously mandated. Additionally, it has permitted him to travel abroad to specified countries, under the condition that he must inform the SHO of the Chikkadpally police station of his travel schedule and provide details of his stay abroad. This permission remains valid until the charge sheet is filed.
However, the other bail conditions remain unchanged, the court confirmed in its order dated January 10. The decision came after Allu Arjun filed a petition seeking relaxation of his bail conditions.
When the actor was granted regular bail on January 3, the court had instructed him to report to the investigating officer every Sunday between 10 am and 1 pm for two months or until the charge sheet was filed, whichever occurred first. The actor was also prohibited from leaving the country without prior court approval. The court had additionally directed him to cooperate with the investigation and refrain from influencing witnesses or interfering with the ongoing inquiry.
Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13 in relation to the stampede that took place on December 4 during the premiere of 'Pushpa 2' at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The stampede resulted in the tragic death of a 35-year-old woman and the injury of her eight-year-old son, as fans rushed to see the actor. Following the incident, the police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Chikkadpally police station, based on a complaint filed by the deceased woman’s family.
Allu Arjun was released from jail on December 14 after the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail, which ended on January 10. He was named as Accused No. 11 in the case and subsequently filed a petition for regular bail.
