Canadian veteran actor Christopher Plummer departs at 91

The Oscar recipient and the legend, Christopher Plummer, has died at 91 ending his career spanning more than six decades. He left behind a successful career in theatre and cinemas with outstanding works in English and French. He performed most of the major Shakespeare roles.

He was best known for his roles in "The Sound of Music", "Beginners", voicing the villain for "Up", "The Insider," "12 Monkeys," "A Beautiful Mind," and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." He also starred in "Departure", a TV suspense drama series, in 2019.

His supporting role in the 'Beginners' alongside Ewan McGregor and Melanie Laurent won him an Oscar as the 'Best Supporting Actor' in 2012 which made him the oldest Academy Award acting winner in history at 82.

Plummer died Friday morning at his home in Connecticut, confirmed Lou Pitt, his manager and longtime friend.
