Los Angeles: Power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce have reportedly splashed out a whopping $200 million for buying a property- a 30,000-square-foot home.
One of the greatest architectural masterpieces in California, it is the most expensive home ever sold in the entire state of California, eclipsing the previous record of $177 million.
It's also the second most expensive real estate deal in the country - the top being $238 million for an NYC apartment bought by hedge fund giant Ken Griffin in 2019.
The couple, who also own a mansion in the swanky Bel Air neighbourhood, took the record from their new neighbour, venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, who bought his home next door for a staggering $177 million in 2021.
The home was listed for a whopping $295 million. The house sits on an 8-acre bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the Paradise Cove area.
It's also an architectural jewel, designed by Tadao Ando, a Japanese master architect, who is also designing the house rapper Kanye West bought in Malibu. Ando is a Pritzker Prize winner known for his unique concrete structures in Asia, Europe and North America.
The minimalist house was owned and built by William Bell, one of the biggest art collectors in the world. He bought the property for $14.5 million in 2003, according to the Los Angeles Times. It took Bell almost 15 years to build the all-concrete structure.
High concrete walls, vast concrete hallways and floor-to-ceiling glass panels are some of the features it incorporates. The expansive backyard boasts a pool and ends with a cliff that overlooks the beach.
The home is the couple's second massive real estate purchase known in Los Angeles. Back in 2017, they purchased a Bel-Air mansion for $88 million and pumped millions more into the home to push it over the $100 million mark.
The home also features Bell's vast private art collection, reports the New York Post.
