'Asuran' actor Nitish Veera succumbs to Covid-19

Chennai: Tamil Actor Nitish Veera, who was much appreciated for his performance in the movie Asuran succumbed to the Covid virus on Monday at Chennai's Omandurar Government Hospital. He was 45.

Niteesh is noted for his performances in movies such as director Selvaraghavan's cult hit 'Pudhupettai' and sports drama movie 'Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu'.

In the 2006 film, Pudhupettai, he played the role of Mani, the close confidant and friend of notorious gangster Kokki Kumar (played by Dhanush). Like the protagonist, Nitish's role also had a strong character arc and was appreciated by the audience.

However, the 2018 release Kaala--which featured Nitish in the role of Rajinikanth's son--that proved to be a gamechanger for the young actor

He also appeared in films like Sindhanai Sei, Peranbu, Raatchasi, Kaala and others.

In the 2019 film Asuran, Written and directed by Vetrimaara, Nitish Veera played the role of an upper-class bigot. He has also played an important role in the upcoming political drama film Laabam, which stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role.

The Tamil film fraternity mourned the death of this young actor.
