New Delhi: Bollywood actress Neena Gupta, who is known for her candid statements, said that Alia and Priyanka's Met Gala appearance left her feeling jealous. She added that she wished actors of her time got the same kind of exposure.
"I wish we also had the same kind of exposure. I think about it every passing minute. I feel envious every second. I wonder what if I was a young actor in this day and age! I could have achieved so much more. Having said that, I know that you can't have everything that you wish for," said Neena Gupta.
"I definitely do feel thankful for all the work that's coming my way even at this age. But yes, I feel very, very jealous when I look at them wearing gowns and walking," she told News18.
Alia Bhatt's Met Gala dress has gone viral among Indian audiences for its dreamy appearance. While this was her debut at the major fashion event, she was accompanied by Priyanka Chopra who went to the event for the fourth time. Isha Ambani, Natasha Poonawalla, and Diya Mehta Jatia were also at the event.
The 63-year-old is known for shattering some age-related norms in Bollywood. In the past decade, she has worked in films like Badhaai Ho, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Sardar Ka Grandson, Goodbye, and Uunchai.
Neena Gupta said if she is ever invited to a global event, she will go but will be wearing a beautiful saree. "If they call me, I’m game. I don’t have the body to wear a gown. So, I’ll wear a very beautiful saree if I’m invited to go (to an international event). But no one’s inviting me (laughs). If an opportunity comes my way, I'll have Masaba to style me." The senior actress is often seen in daughter Masaba Gupta's creations who is one of the A-lister fashion designers of Bollywood.
