Thrissur: Within hours of raising the toll rates for motorists to drive through the Paliyekkara toll plaza in Thrissur on National Highway 47, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Wednesday morning withdrew the new rates following protests from various youth organisations.
Defying strong public protests, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had hiked the toll rates for motorists at the toll plaza here from Tuesday midnight.
As per the NHAI notification, the revised rates had envisaged an additional burden of up to Rs 5-25 per vehicle.
