In what could be one of the first announcements from the new Trump administration, the White House sources has hinted at a decision to relocate the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Trump, after taking oath as the 45th president of the United States, had recited quotes from Bible which says "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity". But his plan to change the embassy to Jerusalem is likely to anger Palestine worsening the enmity between the two nations forever. While Palestine sees Jerusalem as the capital of their future state, Israelis view the ancient city as its ‘eternal capital’. Trump’s predecessors have also promised to take such a move but decided against it to avoid taking sides. Trump, an advocate of colorism, and racism and an extreme right wing representative, had repeatedly promised during the 2016 presidential campaign, to back the Israel settlements in East Jerusalem violating the recurrent warnings of the UN and move the US Embassy to the holy city. The decision which is in the early stages is to please the Zionist lobby which ensured Trump’s entry to the White House at any cost and to provoke the Muslims, his main opponents. He in his address had also vowed to wipe out ‘Islamic terrorism’ from the face of the Earth which completes the picture.
How the rest of the world reacts to the moves of Donald Trump and Israel, moves that are against the international diplomacy, UN guidelines and human rights, is yet to be seen. If power is the ultimate truth that drives the nations, such misbehaviours are bound to continue. But if truth, justice and humanity have still have any value left, it’s the time for the governments, parties and people to put an end to Israel’s arrogance and overtly resist Trump’s strategies. One natural consequence of relocating the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is that other European nations and countries that back them would also follow the same path. Given the present international scenario, one has to wait and watch how many of the Arab-Muslim nations would display the courage to even point a finger at Donald Trump.
