Zomato delivery agent persuaded to cheat: customer claims

New Delhi: A customer of Zomato claimed that one of its food delivery agents told him that from the next delivery onwards, he should not make payment online but choose cash-on-delivery, and thus, he will deliver orders of Rs 1,000 to Rs 200-300, NDTV reported.

The customer, an entrepreneur, had posted the same online, and Zomato founder CEO Deepinder Goyal took note of the same and acknowledged the “loophole”.

The entrepreneur, Vinay Sati, said that he experienced “goosebumps” learning about the scam going on in Zomato.

He said that he had ordered burgers from Zomato days ago, and when the delivery arrived, the agent told him that he didn’t need to pay next time. When he orders food worth Rs 700-800 next time, he only has to choose cash on delivery and will have to pay Rs 200 for the order.

The agent said that he would deliver the food but showed Zomato that the food was not accepted by the customer.

“You just pay me ₹ 200 300 and enjoy food worth ₹ 1,000),” Vinay quoted the delivery agent.

He said that he had two options, whether to choose the food or expose the scandal. He chose the second since he himself is an entrepreneur.
