Union Ministries to be ranked based on ease of doing business

New Delhi: The Union government is reported to be planning to categorise ministries with an aim to facilitate ease of doing business. Reports suggest that the ministries will be ranked based on parameters such as single-window clearance of projects, time taken to clear files per department and the use of Digital India tools.

Ranking is done with the extensive consultation with senior industrialists, industry bodies, trade and policy groups as well as representatives of start-ups. The system will be adopted once the ranking process is over, the reports further said.

Ministries will also be ranked considering the time taken for approvals, the number of permits required to set up a new unit, and the total percentage of budgetary allocation spent.

Factors such as the number of physical files created, complaints raised and cleared per month, and industry interactions organised will also be considered in the rankings.

According to reports, the ranking based on the ease of doing business aims to faster the file moving process by adopting the digitals tools and discouraging of physical files for various obvious reasons.
