Tata Motors announced on Tuesday that its electric model Tiago EV received an overwhelming bookings on the opening day yesterday.
The rush for the most affordable car in the EV segment saw bookings crossing 10,000 and deliveries will start from January onwards. You can test drive the car possibly in late December.
Tiago is also name of Tata's most successful car on which the company built up its car segment since its launch a few years ago.
Now its EV version is showing signs of making good in the futuristic electric segment where players are likely to show up.
The cute model was launched on September 28 with a price tag of Rs 8.49 lakh to Rs 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
Customers have been in the buzz with Tata announcing the introductory prices for first 10,000 customers.
Tata Motors had reserved 2,000 units of the maiden 10,000 Tiago EVs for the existing owners of the Nexon EV and Tigor EV, according to a report.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors was upbeat about the huge response from the market on the opening day.
"We are delighted with the overwhelming response to the Tiago.ev and thank our customers for embarking on the EV journey. To acknowledge the passion to go EV and to firmly support the mass adoption of EVs, we have decided to extend the introductory pricing to an additional 10,000 customers," Shailesh Chandra was quoted as saying.
Customers can make their bookings of the Tiago EV at any authorised dealership of Tata Motors or on the website, paying Rs 21,000.
The Tiago EV with two battery pack options can offer a range of 250km with the 19.2kWh battery and a certified range of 315km with the more powerful 24kWh battery.
