BSNL unveils new logo and services ahead of 4G rollout, enhances spam protection

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is preparing for its much-anticipated commercial 4G launch by unveiling a new logo and introducing several innovative services aimed at improving customer experience.

The updated logo, presented at an event in New Delhi, reflects BSNL's core objectives of offering services that are secure, affordable, and reliable.

The event was attended by key government officials, including Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani.

One of the major highlights is BSNL's enhanced spam protection feature, designed to automatically filter out malicious SMS messages and phishing attempts without alerting users.

Additionally, BSNL has introduced a national Wi-Fi roaming service for its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) customers, allowing them to access high-speed internet at BSNL hotspots, further reducing their data usage costs.

BSNL is also expanding its television services with a fibre-based intranet TV service, offering over 500 live channels and a Pay TV option. The service allows users to stream content without affecting their FTTH data pack usage. Moreover, new Any Time SIM (ATM) kiosks will allow customers to easily purchase, replace, or upgrade SIM cards using QR-enabled UPI payments, available in multiple languages.

The company is also advancing connectivity in remote and disaster-affected areas with a direct-to-device (D2D) solution that combines satellite and terrestrial networks. This service will support UPI payments in emergencies and isolated regions, and will also provide encrypted communication tools for government and relief agencies through balloon and drone-based networks.

BSNL has also partnered with C-DAC to introduce a private 5G network for mining operations. This network will enable AI and IoT applications in both underground and open-pit mines, improving safety, fleet management, and real-time control through advanced technologies like augmented reality (AR).

These new initiatives follow BSNL's recent launch of its 4G and 5G-ready Universal SIM (USIM) platform, setting the stage for the company’s upcoming commercial 4G network expansion.
