Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) announced on Sunday that it handled an impressive one million tonnes of air cargo in the fiscal year 2023-2024 (FY24), marking a significant 7% year-over-year growth.
In the previous fiscal year, the company managed 944,912 metric tonnes of cargo.
The cargo operations across seven airports facilitated over 1 million metric tonnes, capturing a substantial 30.1% market share. Arun Bansal, CEO of AAHL, highlighted the company's continuous improvement in operational efficiency, stating, "The cargo terminals have achieved a remarkable milestone, handling over 1 million tonnes this fiscal year."
International cargo constituted 65% of the total cargo managed by the company, with international tonnage reaching 662,258 metric tonnes, a 9% increase compared to the previous fiscal's 606,348 metric tonnes. The top commodities handled included automobiles, pharmaceuticals, perishables, electricals/electronics, and engineering goods. Bansal added, "This achievement solidifies our position as key facilitators in both international and domestic airfreight operations in India."
Mumbai International Airport recorded the highest cargo volumes for the fiscal year in March 2024.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (Ahmedabad) notably handled Indigo's first A320 neo freighter on May 18. Additionally, international cargo operations at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Lucknow) achieved a record volume of 700 tonnes in March 2024.
