BJP, AAP trying to silence people: Congress on Bagga arrest

New Delhi: Regarding the arrest and ensued developments of BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, the Congress party alleged that BJP and AAP are "experimenting" using police in order to deter the public from asking questions. The party said on Friday that AAP and BJP have the same "modus operandi", PTI reported.

Meanwhile, Punjab and Haryana High Court rejected the Punjab government's request to keep Bagga in Haryana and asked Haryana government to file an affidavit tomorrow.

Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh lashed out at AAP and BJP that the "holding company" arrested Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani earlier and the "subsidiary company" arrested Bagga.

Vallabh said, "Understand the chronology, this is not 'sanyog (coincidence) but a proyog (experiment). This is a 'proyog' to tell you that if you ask questions, you will be arrested. This is a 'prayog' to say that we are not their (BJP's) B-team."

"But you (AAP) are their (the BJP's) B-team because you both have the same modus operandi," Vallabh alleged

He asserted that one has the right to ask questions in a democracy and wondered why the Union government suddenly wanted to establish a "police raj".

On Friday, after Bagga was arrested by the Punjab Police from his home in Delhi, a Delhi Police team took his custody from Punjab Police while he was taken to Kurukshetra.

The Punjab Police team was stopped at Kurukshetra's Pipli, and a Haryana Police official informed them that they had intel that Bagga was forcibly detained from his residence. Earlier on Friday, Delhi Police had registered a kidnapping case after Bagga got arrested. Bagga was arrested for alleged inflammatory comments he made.
