Bihar Police bust terror plot targeting PM Modi, ex-cop among 2 arrested

Patna: Police in Bihar's Patna claimed to have foiled terrorist's plot to target Prime Minister Modi.

The plan was to target the prime minister during his visit on July 12, according to India Today.

The police reportedly arrested two suspects identified as Athar Parvez and Md Jalaluddin for allegedly involving in the terrorist module.

The report further said that the module wanted to turn India into an Islamic nation by 2047.

The suspected terrorists reportedly held meeting on July 6 and 7 to decide ways to target Modi.

They were trained in Phulwari Sharif 15 days ahead of the prime minister's visit.

Bihar police searched the Phulwari Sharif office of the suspected terrorists, allegedly recovering incriminating documents.

One of the 25 PFI pamphlets recovered from there was titled as '2047 India Towards Rule of Islamic India', according to the report.

Police raided the the Naya Tola area on July 11 after The Intelligence Bureau got tip off about a possible terrorist module working at Phulwari Sharif area of Patna.

Investigations revealed that most of the youths who visited the place used to come from Kerala, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and many other states to take training in terror plotting, the report said.

The suspected terrorist, police revealed, got funding from Islamic countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Turkey for anti-national campaigns.

Phulwari Sharif Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Manish Kumar said arrested persons included a retired Jharkhand police officer, Mohammad Jallauddin.

Jallauddin was earlier associated with Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), according to the report.

He added that the suspects were teaching the locals how to use swords and knives while instigating them for communal violence.
