New Delhi: Actor Priyamani said that the trolls on her interfaith marriage caused her to be trolled on social media, which affected her. Speaking in an interview with Galatta India, she said that her marriage to Mustafa Raj caught her in trolls, which took a toll on her as well as her family.
During the duo's marriage in 2017, Mustafa's ex-wife made claims that his marriage with Priyamani was invalid since they hadn't officially divorced. Mustafa and separated with his ex in 2013, The Indian Express reported.
She said that trolls affected her father and mother particularly. However, her husband Mustafa stood by her side as a rock. She said that he told her that whatever happens, he will let everything go to him first. He told her to hold his hand and be with him through every step.
Further, Priyamani told Galatta India, "Because right at the time we were seeing each other, I had also faced a lot of rumours. I had told him the same thing, 'Stand by me and trust me.' Because we have taken the step together and decided to spend the rest of our lives. So come hail, come storm, come sunshine, we will walk the path together. I am very happy that I got such an understanding and strong partner."
"It did upset me but at that time I wasn't in Mumbai, I was in Bangalore with my husband. We took care of everything and didn't let it hinder my parents also. We just asked them to not bother much because it's us at the end of the day. We told them, 'The two of us will handle it. Just give us your blessings and support us like you always have.' And, their blessings and prayers have taken us a long way," she said.
