Zelensky urges people to continue fighting Russia

Kiev: Ukrainian President appears to be none the worse for the Russian attack across the nation.

From safety elsewhere the nation outside the capital, Volodymyr Zelensky has again asked his people "to go on the offensive".

A video message that emerged Saturday night bespeaks his resolve, which many see as bold.

"Every meter of our Ukrainian land won by protest and humiliation of the invaders is a step forward, a step towards victory for our entire state," he said.

"This is a chance to live. Ukrainians! In all our cities where the enemy entered. Feel it. Go on the offensive," he went on exhorted in the video posted on Facebook.

War is raging on in Ukraine, with more cities falling to Russian forces. Even in the middle of cease fire, missiles hit cities blowing up buildings.

Many observers came down on Russia calling its ceasefire declaration facile.

BBC reported that evacuations of locals were underway in the city of Irpin after air strikes and artillery attacks rained in fire.

Residential towers hunkered down to their knees in the aerial attack.

The city of Mariupol underwent heavy shelling even during ceasefire. Three hours after the ceasefire was supposed to begin, at 9 a.m. (local time), Mariupol authorities announced they had postponed a planned mass evacuation because of the continued bombardment, IANS reported.

A flippant Russia justified resuming of attacks "due to the unwillingness of the Ukrainian side to influence nationalists or extend the ceasefire".

Meanwhile in Kherson, the first major city to fall to Russian forces, some 2,000 people marched through the city centre, waving flags and singing the Ukrainian national anthem.

They shouted patriotic slogans including "Russians go home" and "Kherson is Ukraine", said the BBC report.
