United Nations: Ukraine crisis is no longer hogging media as it did weeks before.

Alongside, the situation of the medical students returned from the nation has been largely forgotten.

It is quiet unlikely for them to return to Ukraine anytime soon, and their education is hanging in balance.

The war is not going to be over for a long time yet, as Russia continues assault in several cities.

Given this, India is exploring ways to help the students to complete their medical education.

According to India's Deputy Permanent Representative to UN R. Ravindra, Indian authorities are trying to minimise its impact on students.

He was participating a discussion on humanitarian situation related to education and children in Ukraine.

He appreciated the relaxation for medical students issued by Ukrainian government for this academic year.

Ukrainian Education Ministry estimated 18,095 Indian students in the nation before the Russian invasion.

They were among the 22,500 Indian citizens who, Ravindra said, were safely brought back to India.

Earlier the Ukrainian Education Ministry said the final year MBBS students would get their degrees without having to take the final licensing exam.

More than 900 educational institutions in Ukraine have been damaged or destroyed, Ravidra said calling for "unequivocal" international support to make them continue education.

Ravindra said India right from the beginning of the war stood for peace, dialogue and diplomacy.

No solution, he said, could be made by shedding blood and at the cost of innocent lives.

He was all for finding an early solution to the conflict working constructively both within UN and outside.

Keeping with India's neutral stance, he did not criticise Russia or even mention it while speaking about the destruction of educational institutions by Moscow's invasion.
