New Delhi: Just as the war is raging in Ukraine, Vladimir Putin is facing scathing attack globally for his erratic behaviour.

One report in The Guardian said that he had forgotten the fact that the best soldiers in the Second World War were Ukrainians.

Alongside, what is particularly pointed out by senior Ukrainian officials is the increasingly erratic behaviour of Putin

Speaking before the invasion, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official said that Putin lived in a strange parallel reality.

Given this, like dictators before him Putin also believed his version of the world.

"Putin thinks that Ukraine's government is corrupt, western and irredeemably Russophobic," the official was quoted as saying.

The official was saying that Putin considered Ukrainians to be rural Russians. And he thought that Ukranians would welcome Russia and intervention.

"We have always understood Russians better than they understand us," the official added.

With the Putin opening a pointless war, political analysts are closely observing his moves.

It is impossible to know if there is growing unhappiness within Putin's national Security Council over the decision to go to war, according to the report.

Just before the war last week, the members of the national Security Council signed off on Putin's move to approve of the independence of two regions in Ukraine.

Valery Gerasimov, most senior commander and the chief of the general staff of Russia, reportedly warned Putin that "invading Ukraine might not be straightforward".
