Indians in Tehran asked to immediately contact embassy; 110 Indians reach Armenia

Chandigarh: Over 100 Indian students from Urmia, Iran, have arrived in Armenia and are awaiting repatriation to India.
Amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, Indian nationals in Tehran are being relocated, with the Indian Embassy organizing the evacuation of students from the capital. Additionally, Indian residents with access to private transport have been urged to leave the city on their own.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that Indian students in Tehran were evacuated through embassy-led efforts due to growing security concerns. It also mentioned that some Indian citizens have crossed into Armenia with assistance from Indian authorities, TNIE reported.
Nasir Khuehami, the national convener of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, indicated that India has initiated the evacuation of its students from Iran in light of the growing tensions between Iran and Israel.
He mentioned that around 110 Indian students from Urmia Medical University, including 90 from Kashmir, have safely crossed into Armenia. The students are expected to travel to the Armenian capital, Yerevan, before flying to Delhi, with their departure scheduled for the following day.
Sources estimate that approximately 10,000 Indian nationals are currently in Iran, including about 6,000 students. Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Tehran is said to be maintaining regular contact with the Indian community, providing support and assistance as needed.
Indian citizens in Iran were urged on Tuesday to immediately contact the Indian Embassy and provide their location and contact information, as the Israel-Iran conflict entered its fifth day, with US President Donald Trump and Israeli forces issuing "evacuation warnings" to residents of central Tehran.
In addition, a control room has been established in New Delhi, and a 24x7 emergency helpline has been set up in three cities, Tehran, Bandar Abbas and Zahedan in Iran.
