128 killed, 161 injured: Afghan's deadliest week after Kabul's fall

Kabul: According to Pajhwok News, at least 128 people were killed, and 161 were injured in violent incidents last week in Afghanistan. The week is described as the deadliest since the Taliban took over Kabul, IANS reported.

During the week, Pakistan conducted airstrikes, blasting Waziristan refugees' homes in Khost province and villages in Kunar's Sheltan district.

Local sources informed that 41 people, including women and children, lost their lives, and 21 others were injured in these airstrikes, while six others were killed in Pakistan pounding in Kunar. Other reports suggested that 40 people were killed and 70 injured in blasts and targeted attacks on the Qala-i-Zal and Imam Sahib districts of Kunduz province.

A bomb blast inside a Mazar-e-Sharif mosque took 12 lives and injured 41. Reports informed that Daesh, the militant outfit, claimed responsibility.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan's Permanent Representative to the UN alleged that the Pakistan attacks on Khost and Kunar provinces were a sheer invasion of Afghan territory. The representative formally complained of the same at the UN Security Council.

In Afghanistan, its foreign ministry summoned Pakistan's envoy to Kabul and demanded Pakistan not repeat attacks in the future.

Afghan people in many parts of the country condemned Pakistan's airstrikes and proclaimed that they were ready to defend their nation. Expressing its concern, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said that civilians should not be targeted in any battle.
