Pakistan 161/2 at stumps against Bangladesh on Day 1 of the second Test

On the opening day of their second Test against Bangladesh, Pakistan was 161/2 at stumps, with the final session abandoned due to bad light.

The umpires decided on Day 1 in Dhaka that stumps had to be drawn while Babar Azam and Azhar Ali were at the crease. Pakistan began well as openers Abid Ali, and Abdullah Shafique put on 59 runs for the first wicket. The openers were undisturbed by Bangladesh pacers Ebadot Hossain and Khaled Ahmed as they brought up a 50-run partnership. Abid took 81 balls to finish with a score of 39, becoming the second wicket to fall in a row. Bangladesh regained momentum with two quick wickets, and new batsmen Azam and Azhar were under pressure. Although the duo held on until lunch, the first hour of their second session also proved to be hard.

After lunch, Azam and Azhar played well under overcast skies. Following a brief rain break, Pakistan took control of the match. Pakistan broke free from Bangladesh's shackles with Azam playing shots fluently as Khaled Ahmed had dropped him in the deep. Azhar used the sweep a couple of times to gain a grip on the innings. The match was delayed due to bad lighting and eventually canceled due to poor overhead conditions.
