A startup satellite company Swarm Technology has launched services to deliver internet connectivity across the world with low-cost satellites. The company recently announced that it has begun selling its services to commercial customers and companies.

Swarm, which operates through 81 small satellites equal to the size of a sandwich, can collect data from water sensors and space stations and even track honey levels in beehives.

"We hope to get on board hundreds of customers in 2021 and get devices all over the world happily beeping away," said Sara Spangelo,CEO of the company, to Fortune.

"We're definitely not just a paper satellite company. We're a real satellite company offering services." she said

The company, founded in 2017, has raised massive funds of more than $36 million from major investors, and plans to double up the size of its satellite fleet to 150. Swarm is able to provide full global network coverage and has built a network of ground-based receivers around the world, including Antarctica.
