text_fieldsChennai: Life in Chennai limped back to normal on Saturday there was no heavy rain on Friday night and it did not rain in the morning. Schools, however, remained closed as per government orders.
Many suburban areas continued to remain submerged, even as the water level in various areas was slowly receding.
However, the weather department has predicted rain or thundershowers over coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry till Monday.
"The sky is generally likely to be cloudy. There will be intermittent spells of rain or thundershowers with heavy spells at times.
"The maximum and minimum temperature is likely to be around 29 and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively," the weather department said on Friday.
Districts like Villupuram, Tiruvallur and Tiruvarur received rains.
The state government started mobile medical camp in Chennai, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts to prevent spread of diseases.
According to reports reaching here several acres of crop were submerged under rain water in Nagapattinam district.
Meanwhile, actor Kamal Haasan in a tweet appreciated the state police for their efforts in the rain relief and rescue work.
He also urged his fan club members to carry out relief work without hindering or mocking the government workers.
