UAE seeks convergence of views from a unified council voice so that its resolutions have comprehensive support, she said. She is looking forward to working with the Security Council, she added.

The UAE has resolved to reinforce its ties with organisations like the Arab League, African Union etc., and it will represent Arab countries at the Council. It will advocate on issues including women's rights, peace and security, climate issues, counterterrorism and Covid-19 response, a statement released by UAE said. UAE will be serving as president of the Council in March and June next year. It will chair standing committees and its agenda.

Apart from UAE, the countries of Albania, Brazil, Gabon and Ghana were also elected to serve as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for the 2022-23 term.
