As Dubai enters the peak travel period, authorities have issued a traffic advisory to ensure smooth journeys for the millions expected to pass through Dubai International Airport (DXB). Between December 13 and December 31, DXB is projected to welcome over 5.2 million travelers, according to official estimates released on Thursday.

In a post shared on X, Dubai Police urged drivers to avoid routes leading to the airport.

"Drivers using the roads to Dubai Airports and Airport Road are encouraged to consider alternative routes to help ease traffic and ensure a smoother journey for departing and arriving travellers," the advisory read.

The festive period is expected to witness heightened activity, with December 20 (Friday) anticipated as the busiest day, as nearly 296,000 guests are expected to transit through DXB. The weekend following, from December 20 to 22, will also see heavy traffic, with approximately 880,000 passengers projected to use the airport.

Authorities further noted that an average of 274,000 passengers are expected to fly in and out of DXB daily during this festive season. Travelers are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance, consider alternate routes and arrive at the airport well ahead of their flights to avoid delays.

The advisory reflects the city's efforts to manage the influx of holiday travelers efficiently while minimizing disruptions for road users.
