During an official visit to Beijing, Dr. Hisham bin Saad Al-Jadhey, head of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), signed a cooperation agreement with China's National Medical Products Administration, aiming to bolster collaboration in regulatory standards and innovative health solutions. Accompanied by Saudi Ambassador to China Abdulrahman Al-Harbi, Al-Jadhey and his delegation toured prominent Chinese health organizations, exploring avenues for joint initiatives in food and drug safety.

The delegation's itinerary included visits to the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment and the National Institute for Food and Drug Control, where they examined regulatory practices and oversight mechanisms. Key discussions centered on collaborative efforts to enhance vaccine regulation, biological alternatives and advanced therapeutic products, including gene and cellular therapies.

In addition, the Saudi representatives visited the National Institute of Biological Sciences. The institute's chairman, Dr. Xiaodong Wang, presented an overview of its research endeavors, including drug discovery and other recent advancements. Al-Jadhey is also set to participate in the 8th Shenzhen Food Safety Forum, underscoring Saudi Arabia's commitment to strengthening food safety and public health partnerships with global counterparts.
